Resumo: | In this work an exploratory research was carried out, which was based on the collection, with the aid of researches, measurements, with application use, and field surveys, of the characteristic variables of the public transport operation by bus. Among the variables collected are the flow of passengers along the line, operating speed, stopping time, frequency of service. The analysis of the indicators brings to the fore a comprehensive knowledge of the system, which allows the identification of distortions and subsidizing the decision making, in order to improve the operation. In the present study, the low performance of the Natal public transport line 73 was verified. Despite presenting itself as the city's most demanded line, it has a low level of utilization, as measured by the IPK, when compared to the standards of modern public transport systems, as well as a high cycle time. There is still a high level of irregularity in the fulfillment of the service, with the headway varying from 0 to 24 minutes. The results still show a conflict of supply among the line's own groups, because they meet at a certain point in the itinerary, as well as with vehicles from other similar routes. Such facts provide subsidy for a path of action based on hierarchy, from the modification of the system to two structural lines and one round line. |

Such facts provide subsidy for a path of action based on hierarchy, from the modification of the system to two structural lines and one round line.Neste trabalho procedeu-se a uma pesquisa exploratória, a qual se fundamentou na coleta, com auxílio de pesquisas e medições, com uso de aplicativo e levantamentos em campo, das variáveis característicos da operação de transporte público por ônibus. Dentre as variáveis coletadas estão o fluxo de passageiros ao longo da linha, velocidade operacional, tempo de parada, frequência de serviço. A análise dos indicadores traz à tona um conhecimento abrangente do sistema, o que permite identificar distorções e subsidiar a tomada de decisões, de forma a aprimorar a operação. No presente trabalho, verificou-se a baixa performance da linha 73 do transporte público de Natal. Apesar de se apresentar como a linha de maior demanda da cidade, apresenta baixo nível de utilização, medido pelo IPK, se comparado aos padrões de sistemas de transporte público modernos, assim como um elevado tempo de ciclo. Observa-se ainda alta irregularidade no cumprimento do serviço, com o headway variando de 0 a 24 minutos. Os resultados ainda evidenciam um conflito de oferta entre os próprios coletivos da linha, por motivo de se encontrarem em determinado momento do itinerário, como também com veículos de outras linhas de itinerário semelhante.
