This research deals with the investigation of the history of the Hospital Seridó (1926-1980). This being the first establishment facing the health of the least affluent population of the city of Caicó, it is of paramount importance for the entire population of the city who knows the history of the hospital that values the health of the people for eighty-nine years so far, it changed location in the 60s because of the space that was insufficient to meet the great demand of patients. To understand the development of its history, various types of sources were used: newspapers such as the Journal of Young Women (1926), The Seridoense (1925), the Journal of Caico (1931), The Republic (1932-1939) and The Sheet (1959-1964); The Estatuto de Criação da Associação Mantenedora do Hospital do Seridó; mail from the Caicó City Hall from 1931-1937; Decreto de Lei number 562 of 17 November 1969; Interviews with former employees of Hospital Seridó and local literatures of Fr. Eymard Monteiro, José Augusto Bezerra de Medeiros and Adauto Guerra Filho. For the treatment and analysis of the sources we performed readings, cataloging, transcribing interviews, paleographic transcription and analysis of the sources, submitting to up to date debates within the historiographical studies on the history of medicine.
