Resumo: | Increased consumption and excessive disposal of packaging materials, generates serious environmental impacts. Sustainable Design emerges as a way to reduce these impacts, proposing eco-efficient solutions. The consumption of organic foods is growing worldwide, and is seen as a reflection of the growing demand for healthier eating habits. However, the food waste is a disturbing reality; one of its causes is the lack of adequate packaging. This project proposes the development of a sustainable packaging for organic lettuce, produced and marketed in the "Horta Orgânico Capim Macio" in Natal. For this, theoretical fundamentals were studied about the causes and impacts of consumption and disposal of packaging materials, sustainable development, local product recovery, consumption of organic food and the importance of packaging and labeling of organic food. The project methodology was based on the Guideline for the Packaging Development (GODE), the Life Cycle Design and Life Cycle Assessment. other tools, such as interviews and questionnaires were also incorporated. The analysis of the data collected has allowed the creation of the creation briefing, which guided the development of the stages of creating the package. Finally, the packaging for organic lettuce, focused on the reduction of environmental impacts in their use and disposal, preserving product quality during the sale, indicating the best way to keep the lettuce, and suggesting ways to reuse packaging. |

O Design sustentável surge como uma forma de reduzir estes impactos, propondo soluções ecoeficientes. O consumo de alimentos orgânicos vem crescendo em todo o mundo, e se mostra como um reflexo da crescente busca por hábitos alimentares mais saudáveis. Contudo, o desperdício de alimento é uma realidade preocupante; uma de suas causas é a ausência de embalagens adequadas. Este projeto, propõe o desenvolvimento de uma embalagem sustentável para a alface orgânica, produzida e comercializada na Horta Orgânico Capim Macio, em Natal. Para isso, foram estudados fundamentos teóricos a cerca das causas e impactos do consumo e descarte de embalagens, desenvolvimento sustentável, valorização do produto local, consumo de alimentos orgânicos, a importância da embalagem e a rotulagem de alimentos orgânicos. A metodologia do projeto se baseou no Guia de Orientação para o Desenvolvimento de Embalagens (GODE), no Life Cycle Design e na Avaliação de Ciclo de Vida. Também foram incorporados outras ferramentas, como entrevistas e questionários. A análise dos dados coletados permitiu a criação do briefing de criação, que orientou o desenvolvimento das etapas de criação da embalagem.
