Resumo: In Brazil, Youth and Adult Education is a topic that must be discussed and addressed, pointing out the main daily obstacles they face, to reconcile work and study, the conditions of school functioning and the methodology that the teacher uses with the students in the classroom. This study aimed to analyze how the teaching methodology in the EJA, of the João Alencar de Medeiros, State School contributes to the students' learning. As regards the specific objectives, these consisted in: Characterizing the educational institution; Identify the teaching methodologies used by EJA teachers; Describe the teaching practices of the EJA teachers. The approach of this work was qualitative, where bibliographical and documentary research was done. The theoretical basis was based on several authors, such as Freire (1996), Gadotti (2003), Di Pierro (2012), among others, making a discussion and enabling work to be done to recognize and value youth identity and education and adults. During the development of the research, it was possible to understand the historical aspects, infrastructure, the student and teaching profile of the institution. In addition, it is possible to say that the achievements and advances in the educational process of the EJA in the municipality of Ipueira-RN were significant, since it provided the formation of social attitudes, respect, values, rules, initiative, responsibility and interaction among the individuals involved. Therefore, the importance of the use of new methods, new instruments, new forms of planning and, consequently, new learning, both by the students and by the teachers of this modality of teaching.

Este estudo objetivou analisar como a metodologia de ensino na EJA, da Escola Estadual João Alencar de Medeiros, contribui para a aprendizagem dos discentes. Quanto aos objetivos específicos, estes consistiram em: caracterizar a instituição de ensino; identificar as metodologias de ensino utilizadas pelos professores da EJA; descrever as práticas docentes dos professores da EJA. A abordagem desse trabalho foi de cunho qualitativo, onde foi feita pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de campo. A fundamentação teórica foi pautada em vários autores, como Freire (1996), Gadotti (2003), Di Pierro (2012), entre outros, fazendo uma discussão e ensejando a concretização do trabalho para reconhecimento e valorização da identidade e educação de jovens e adultos. Durante o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, foi possível compreender os aspectos históricos, infraestrutura, o perfil discente e docente da referida instituição. Além disso, pode-se dizer que foram significativas as conquistas e avanços no processo educacional da EJA, no município de Ipueira-RN, pois proporcionou formação de atitudes sociais, respeito, valores, regras, iniciativa, responsabilidade e interação entre os sujeitos envolvidos.
