Resumo: | This article presents part of the conclusions of a lengthy multisited ethnography on the sacred feminine movement and the racial dynamics within and around it, which I conducted between 2019 and 2023. The description encompasses a historical context, ethnographic accounts, netnography, and analysis of the elements I consider most important for understanding this social upheaval that resurged strongly in Brazil from 2015 onwards. The sacred feminine movement is composed of urban middle-class women, predominantly young and white, who seek a lifestyle focused on self-care of what I refer to as the "vagina-body-mind complex" and the need to reclaim a lost feminine essence. The movement has spread through social media, propelled by white feminism. Whiteness plays a central role in this field, appropriating elements from different cultural traditions for the exercise of its authority. |
