Resumo: The city of Nova Friburgo stands out as a major producer of vegetables and cauliflower. It produces two to three cauliflower crops per year in areas of steep declivity and under conventional and intensive cultivation practices throughout the year. The cauliflower productivity and quality, however, has been limited by the occurrence of cruciferous hernia, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, common protozoan of the soil and phytoparasite obligatory. The present study was carried out in the Barrac?o dos Mendes microbasin, in family production units with cauliflower cultivation for more than 30 years. It had as objectives: 1) To identify the relationships between soil taxes and the severity of the disease. 2) To identify the adopted management practices and to identify their relations with the occurrence of hernia of the crucifers; and 3) microbial diversity; 4) To evaluate the effect of liming on reducing disease losses and, 5) To evaluate the relationship between Al contents and the development of the plant and the process of infection by the pathogen. It was found that the soil acidity and the application of large quantities of uncomposted poultry manure, the high levels of Al3+ were the atributes that contributed the most to the increase of disease severity and reduction of biomass production plants. The disease occurs in a general way in the region, but with variations in severity, and that this situation results from the non-adoption of preventive measures and / or basic strategies such as the correction of soil acidity. The organic matter and phosphorus contents affected, positively and negatively, respectively, the bacterial diversity, but without having a direct relation with the occurrence of the disease. The application of increasing doses of limestone, up to 4.0 t.ha-1, resulted in significant gains in cauliflower production, either by reducing the severity of clubroot or by increasing the volume of the healthy root system. The aluminum reduced the length of aerial part, the concentration and accumulation of calcium in the leaves and roots. Aluminum caused malformation of the middle lamella and damage to the cell wall. The pathogen reduced root length and healthy root volume and increased calcium concentration and cell divisions in roots

A produtividade e qualidade de couve-flor, por?m, vem sendo limitada pela ocorr?ncia de h?rnia das cruc?feras, causada por Plasmodiophora brassicae, protozo?rio habitual do solo e fitoparasita obrigat?rio. O presente trabalho foi realizado na Microbacia de Barrac?o dos Mendes, em unidades de produ??o familiar com cultivo de couve-flor h? mais de 30 anos. Teve como objetivos: 1) identificar as rela??es entre os atributos do solo a severidade da doen?a; 2) identificar as pr?ticas de manejo adotadas e as suas rela??es com a ocorr?ncia da h?rnia das cruc?feras e a diversidade microbiana; 3) avaliar o efeito da calagem na redu??o das perdas pela doen?a; e, 4) avaliar a rela??o entre teores de Al e o desenvolvimento da planta e do processo de infec??o pelo pat?geno. Constatou-se que, a acidez do solo e aplica??o de grandes quantidades de cama-deavi?rio ?fresca? e os altos teores de Al3+ foram os atributos de solo que mais contribu?ram para o aumento da severidade da doen?a e redu??o da produ??o de biomassa pelas plantas. A doen?a ocorre de forma generalizada na regi?o, mas com varia??es quanto ? severidade, e que este quadro resulta da n?o ado??o de medidas de car?ter preventivo e ou de estrat?gias b?sicas como a corre??o da acidez do solo. Os teores de mat?ria org?nica e de f?sforo afetaram, positiva e negativamente, respectivamente, a diversidade bacteriana, mas sem ter uma rela??o direta com a ocorr?ncia da doen?a. A aplica??o de doses crescentes de calc?rio, at? 4,0 t.ha-1, resultou em ganhos significativos na produ??o de couve-flor, seja pela redu??o da severidade da h?rnia das cruc?feras, seja pelo aumento do volume do sistema radicular sadio. O alum?nio reduziu o comprimento de parte a?rea, a concentra??o e ac?mulo de c?lcio nas folhas e ra?zes. O alum?nio ocasionou m? forma??o da lamela m?dia e danos na parede celular. description The city of Nova Friburgo stands out as a major producer of vegetables and cauliflower. It produces two to three cauliflower crops per year in areas of steep declivity and under conventional and intensive cultivation practices throughout the year. The cauliflower productivity and quality, however, has been limited by the occurrence of cruciferous hernia, caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, common protozoan of the soil and phytoparasite obligatory. The present study was carried out in the Barrac?o dos Mendes microbasin, in family production units with cauliflower cultivation for more than 30 years. It had as objectives: 1) To identify the relationships between soil taxes and the severity of the disease. 2) To identify the adopted management practices and to identify their relations with the occurrence of hernia of the crucifers; and 3) microbial diversity; 4) To evaluate the effect of liming on reducing disease losses and, 5) To evaluate the relationship between Al contents and the development of the plant and the process of infection by the pathogen. It was found that the soil acidity and the application of large quantities of uncomposted poultry manure, the high levels of Al3+ were the atributes that contributed the most to the increase of disease severity and reduction of biomass production plants. The disease occurs in a general way in the region, but with variations in severity, and that this situation results from the non-adoption of preventive measures and / or basic strategies such as the correction of soil acidity. The organic matter and phosphorus contents affected, positively and negatively, respectively, the bacterial diversity, but without having a direct relation with the occurrence of the disease. The application of increasing doses of limestone, up to 4.0 t.ha-1, resulted in significant gains in cauliflower production, either by reducing the severity of clubroot or by increasing the volume of the healthy root system. The aluminum reduced the length of aerial part, the concentration and accumulation of calcium in the leaves and roots. Aluminum caused malformation of the middle lamella and damage to the cell wall. The pathogen reduced root length and healthy root volume and increased calcium concentration and cell divisions in roots
