Resumo: One of the main targets in plants of agricultural interest is the Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE). The study of regulatory proteins related to gene expression, specifically transcription factors, is a viable alternative for controlling quantitative traits such as NUE. The transcription factor OsDof25 is an ortholog ZmDof1 maize gene identified already controlling the metabolism of carbon (C). This study was conducted to evaluate N metabolism and C in rice lines overexpressing the transcription factor OsDof25 and morphophysiological changes generated by overexpression, aiming characteristics that lead to a better NUE. Lines showed increased activity in of nitrogen metabolism enzymes (Nitrate Reductase, Glutamine synthetase and glutamate synthase) and higher content of primary metabolites, indicating better assimilation efficiency. The lines L#9.6 and L#10.8 showed high development of roots, compared to wild type. The transformed lines also showed greater number of very fine roots, as well as increased volume, surface area and length, important features for the acquisition and search for nutrients and water.

Submitted by Jorge Silva (jorgelmsilva@ufrrj.br) on 2021-12-28T00:33:28Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2016 - Renan Pinto Braga.pdf: 1129152 bytes, checksum: 3b4ced561581fd0390f81a29ab4768c1 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-12-28T00:33:28Z (GMT). description One of the main targets in plants of agricultural interest is the Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE).
