Resumo: Chapter 1. The genus Clusia (Clusiaceae) comprises about 250 species found from Southern Florida to Southern Brazil. Several species of this genus are used in folk medicine to treat diseases such as rheumatism, stomach problems and as purgative. This has motivated several studies regarding both chemical composition and biological properties of this genus. This work describes the chemical composition and the evaluation of antimicrobial and insecticide activities of fruits of Clusia nemorosa and Clusia paralicola, as well as the leaves of Clusia lanceolata. The chemical study led to the isolation and identification of vitexin, isovitexin, orientin, isoorientin, vitexin-2 "-O-rhamoside, isovitexin-2" -O-rhamnoside, apigenin, kaempferol, quercetin, GB1 -7 "-O-glucopyranoside, GB1a-7" O-glucopyranoside, 1,7-dihidroxixanthone, friedelin, ? and ?-amyrin, ?-sitosterol, stigmasterol, sitosterone, stigmasterone, ?-sitosterol, stigmasterol-glucoside, cis-coumaric acid, protocatechuic acid, citric acid and its derivatives, 13?-hydroxy-(13?-S-)-phaeophytin a, 13?-hydroxy-(13?-R)-phaeophytin a, and nemorosinic acid, a new phloroglucinol. The extracts and fractions of Clusia were inactive against the pathogenic micro-organisms tested, but showed promising insecticide activity against Musca domestica. Chapter 2. The chemical profile of healthy and galled leaves extracts of C. lanceolata were assessed by LC-ESI-MS / MS. Total phenolic, flavonoids and tannins contents were also evaluated. Significant differences between the levels of metabolites and chemical profile were observed, probably due to galler insect-plant interactions. The chemical profiles of essential oil obtained from healthy and galled leaves of C. lanceolata were similar, with predominance of sesquiterpenes of caryophyllene type in both oils.

Os extratos e fra??es de Clusia foram inativos frente aos micro-organismos patog?nicos testados, por?m apresentaram moderada atividade inseticida frente ? Musca domestica. Cap?tulo 2. O perfil qu?mico de extratos de folhas sadias e com galhas de C. lanceolata foram avaliados por LC-ESI-MS/MS e quantificados o teor de fen?licos totais, flavonoides e taninos. Foram observadas diferen?as significativas nos teores de metab?litos e no perfil qu?mico que pode estar relacionado ? intera??o inseto galhador-planta.
