Resumo: This article analyzes how transformations, especially deforestation, during the domination of agrarian oligarchies for half a century influence the daily lives of settled peasant families. This study is focused on the area of the Fazenda Cabaceiras, where today is the Settlement 26 of March, in Marabá (Pará), organized by the Movement of Landless Rural Workers (MST). The methodology used was based on a bibliographical-documentary survey and field research with interviews. It was concluded that the current limits on the area of study result from a historical heritage of occupation and land use by families of the local oligarchy and from the current model of agrarian reform designed for the Southeast of Pará.

Trata-se da área da Fazenda Cabaceiras, onde hoje é o Assentamento 26 de Março, em Marabá (PA), organizado pelo Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST). A metodologia utilizada apoiou-se em levantamento bibliográfico-documental e pesquisa de campo com a realização de entrevistas.
