Strategic planning is a management tool adopted by organizations to establish directions will be followed by the company and its employees. The use of strategies is of utmost importance for increasing competitiveness in the business environment. This article aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the planning process of an information technology company in a city in the interior of the state of Bahia. In this way, a case study was performed out using the SWOT and 5W2H tools in the identification and resolution of the obstacles that affect the results of the organization. After the study, it was verified that the company has difficulties in the elaboration of the planning, necessitating a plan of action to raise the standard of quality and productivity of the products and services.
