Resumo: This work focuses on the relationship between the Pombaline reforms of public education and religious orders, and investigates how historiography has represented this relationship, observing the specific case of Sergipe Del Rey. In this way, it seeks to understand how the minister Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, better known as Marquis of Pombal, dealt with the Catholic religious orders: Jesuits, Oratorians, Franciscans, Carmelites and Benedictines, verifying to what extent their conflicts and agreements had repercussions in Brazilian and Sergipe education. To this end, a count was carried out in the catalog of theses and dissertations on the platform of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), with the intention of knowing which works have already been published and what were the subjects addressed in them. The research presents the Marquis of Pombal's relationship with Portuguese education, highlighting his dissatisfaction with the way of teaching and learning of the period, which was under the responsibility of the Jesuit priests. The replacement of the Ignatians by royal teachers, most of whom would be priests of other orders, was an attempt to fix the problem. However, other problems arose. Regarding Sergipe Del Rey, the thesis highlights the lack of interest of the religious and Portuguese authorities in sending qualified people to teach in the region, a problem that lasted for several decades, causing the non-compliance with the Pombaline educational reforms during the period he was in the Portuguese administration. The thesis shows how the plenipotentiary minister of King Joseph I related to the religious orders of his time, whether in terms of opposition, as was the case with the Jesuits, or in terms of collaboration, as with the oratorians. Supported by the theoretical support of cultural history, we will make use of the historiography of the period and other documentary, legislative, literary and epistolary sources, as well as compendiums and periodicals published both physically and digitally.

De esta manera, busca comprender cómo el ministro Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, más conocido como Marqués de Pombal, trató con las órdenes religiosas católicas: jesuitas, oratorianos, franciscanos, carmelitas y benedictinos, verificando en qué medida sus conflictos y acuerdos tuvo repercusiones en la educación brasileña y Sergipeña. Para ello, se realizó una encuesta en el catálogo de tesis y disertaciones en la plataforma de la Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), con la intención de conocer qué trabajos ya fueron publicados y cuáles fueron los temas abordados. en ellos. La investigación presenta la relación del Marqués de Pombal con la educación portuguesa, destacando su insatisfacción con la forma de enseñar y aprender de la época, que estaba bajo la responsabilidad de los sacerdotes jesuitas. La sustitución de los ignacianos por maestros reales, la mayoría de los cuales serían sacerdotes de otras órdenes, fue un intento de solucionar el problema. Sin embargo, surgieron otros problemas. En cuanto a Sergipe Del Rey, la tesis destaca la falta de interés de las autoridades religiosas y portuguesas en enviar personas calificadas para enseñar en la región, un problema que se prolongó durante varias décadas, provocando el incumplimiento de las reformas educativas pombalinas durante el período que él estuvo en la administración portuguesa. La tesis muestra cómo el ministro plenipotenciario del rey José I se relacionaba con las órdenes religiosas de su tiempo, ya fuera en términos de oposición, como era el caso de los jesuitas, o en términos de colaboración, como era el caso de los oratorianos. Apoyados en el soporte teórico de la historia cultural, haremos uso de la historiografía de la época y otras fuentes documentales, legislativas, literarias y epistolares, así como de compendios y periódicos publicados tanto en soporte físico como digital.Este trabalho tem como objeto a relação entre as reformas pombalinas da instrução pública e as ordens religiosas, e investiga o modo como a historiografia tem representado tal relação, observando o caso específico de Sergipe Del Rey. Desse modo, busca compreender a forma como o ministro Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, mais conhecido como Marquês de Pombal, lidou com as ordens religiosas católicas: jesuítas, oratorianas, franciscanas, carmelitas e beneditinas, verificando até que ponto seus conflitos e concordâncias repercutiram na educação brasileira e sergipana. Para tanto, foi feito um levantamento no catálogo de teses e dissertações na plataforma da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), com a intenção de saber quais trabalhos já foram publicados e quais eram os assuntos tratados neles. A pesquisa apresenta a relação de Marquês de Pombal com a educação portuguesa, destacando seu descontentamento com a forma de ensino e aprendizagem do período, que estava sob a responsabilidade dos padres jesuítas. A substituição dos inacianos por professores régios, que em sua maioria seriam padres de outras ordens, foi uma tentativa de consertar o problema. Todavia, outros problemas surgiram. Com relação a Sergipe Del Rey, a tese destaca a falta de interesse das autoridades religiosas e portuguesas em enviarem pessoas habilitadas para lecionar na região, problema que se estendeu por várias décadas, ocasionando o não cumprimento das reformas educacionais pombalinas durante o período que ele esteve na administração portuguesa. A tese mostra como o ministro plenipotenciário do rei D. José I se relacionou com as ordens religiosas do seu tempo, seja em termos de oposição, como foi o caso dos jesuítas, seja em termos de colaboração, como ocorreu com os oratorianos.
