This research represents the limits and actions coordinated by the brazilian workers' confederation and its peculiarities within the brazilian workers' movement during the first republic. Idealized by intellectals and workers' leaders, this union central functioned as an agglutinating organ of the intellectuality that identified itself with the workers' cause, named by them as the sicial question. Thus, it is in this context that the organization of the brazilian proletariat began, which, during this phase, counted on the leadership of libertarian immigrants, as well as brazilians from the urban middle classe, mainly on the Rio-São Paulo axis. However, given the different stages of industrial growth, and the composition of the workers' confederation, of an anarcho-syndicalist nature. This important class organ, sought the transformation of the workers through three instruments :the lecture, the reading of the printed material produced ( the newspaper A Voz do Trabalhador; the magazine A Vida; among others), and workers' education, in rationalist scholls.
