The present work aims to present the string literature as an instrument of history that leads to several questions that can become guiding, since depending on the theme and popular expression, opening a range of information, gaining space in the field educational. However, in front of several researched Sergipan authors we can understand that Sergipe's story can be approached clearly and concisely. The research is of a qualitative and bibliographic nature, which used the analysis of several strings, articles and scientific journals, newspaper notes and various electronic addresses that gave subsidies to the current research. Given the above, it can be understood that the use of cordel literature in the educational environment, especially in the teaching of history, has been gaining positive results by becoming an interdisciplinary activity and having a commitment to the identity of the people of Sergipe, this literature facilitates the learning from a society that does not have the habit of reading.
