The objective of this work is to apply the method proposed by Miranda (1980) for the evaluation of the collection. The objective of this work is to evaluate the collection of the Higher Technology Collection in Environmental Sanitation of the Federal Institute of Sergipe (IFS) Campus Aracaju. The study comprised the subjects of the 1st. to the 6th. Period of the Higher Course of Technology in Environmental Sanitation using the basic and complementary bibliographies contained in the Pedagogical Project of the Course to verify the percentage distribution of the collection; the age of the collection and the languages of the collection. It is a descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Provides satisfactory results for most of the evaluated points. It is concluded that the Miranda method (1980) for the evaluation of collections corresponds adequately to the proposed one and that the Library Dr. Augusto Cesar Leite plays its role in accordance with the Institution, in order to meet the needs of users, especially those focused on the collection
