O nome e a dignidade : uma reflexão a partir da Lei 14.382/22 e ‘Vidas Secas’ de Graciliano Ramos

This work aims to reflect and study the humanistic and identity character of the name. This study was carried out, focusing on law n° 14.382/22 and the novel 'vidas secas' written by Graciliano Ramos. Therefore, it was made an analysis and reflection on the principles that guide the subject (a person’s name) and also on the linguistic thinking about the civil name of the person. In addition to this aspect, the work proposes to analyze the registry as an adequate means to conect the individual to his dignity through their rights, in a quick and unbureaucratic way. Furthermore, the law n° 6.015/73, both in its original edition and with subsequent changes, was studied and analyzed based on the principle of self-perception. The law 14.382/22, in the articles referring to the change of surname and first name, was analyzed and commented in detail, under the focus of the dignity and the identity of the human person. Finally, bearing in mind the hermeneutic focus of the work, the right to a name was assessed as a guarantor of dignified existence based on the novel 'vidas secas' by Graciliano Ramos, with emphasis on the characters ‘older-boy’ and ‘newst-boy’.
