Resumo: Suicide Attempts (ST) relate to any type of non-fatal self-harming behavior, with evidence, whether implicit or explicit that the person intended to die, suicidal intentions may be related to various issues that may be moral, religious, cultural, associated with psychological or social factors, as well as influenced by biological or pharmacological issues, among others. In March 2020 the world became aware of a new virus of great lethality, the SARS-CoV-2 that soon spread throughout the globe, the disease became known as COVID-19 and from this period new patterns of behavior were necessary, social isolation, wearing masks, changes in everyday life, restriction of circulation. Restrictive measures in the face of the pandemic, directly affected people's lives and many of these changes brought together helplessness, loneliness, lack of information, depression and suicide attempts. In Brazil, the period became more critical because the government's denialism for the confronting of the disease has made social ills, hunger, social inequalities. The general objective of the research was to observe the cases of suicide attempts in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Aracaju - SE, from March 2020 to March 2021, with the following specific objectives: to quantify the cases of suicide attempts in the Municipality of Aracaju; describe sociodemographic characteristics (age, sex, race, education); compare cases between genders, place of occurrence, author's life cycle, age group, types of self-harm, case evolution and identify how the population of Aracaju behaved in this initial period of the pandemic, regarding suicide attempts and establish a parallel with national data during the same period. The object of this research drew a parallel between two events, suicide attempts and COVID-19, considering elements that relate to suicide attempt such as suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior; risk factors and suicide protection; suicide attempt, correlating with the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects. The research was descriptive, of a quantitative and qualitative nature, the quantitative search took place with greater emphasis on the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), especially in the category of interpersonal/self-inflicted violence, the qualitative analysis was based on the analysis of theoretical reference studied. The data found in the Notification Diseases Information System (SINAN) showed that the cases of suicide attempt in Brasil and in Aracaju -SE, in the researched period, had practically the same results, in the analyzed categories, corresponding to a pattern that appears in the theoretical reference. It is not possible to say that the COVID-19 pandemic, in its first year, was the cause of suicide attempts, but rather the cause of a lack of social protection that favored the occurrence of suicide attempts in Aracaju - SE.

The data found in the Notification Diseases Information System (SINAN) showed that the cases of suicide attempt in Brasil and in Aracaju -SE, in the researched period, had practically the same results, in the analyzed categories, corresponding to a pattern that appears in the theoretical reference. It is not possible to say that the COVID-19 pandemic, in its first year, was the cause of suicide attempts, but rather the cause of a lack of social protection that favored the occurrence of suicide attempts in Aracaju - SE.Tentativas de Suicídio (TS) dizem respeito a qualquer tipo de comportamento auto lesivo não fatal, com evidências, sejam elas implícitas ou explícitas de que a pessoa tinha intenção de morrer, as intenções suicidas podem estar relacionadas a diversas questões podendo ser morais, religiosas, culturais, associadas a fatores psicológicos ou sociais, bem como influenciadas por questões biológicas ou farmacológicas, dentre outras.
