This research aims to explore the possibilities of using the film Captain America: the first avenger (2011) as a didactic and pedagogical tool in highschool History classes. Therefore, we drew a comparative analysis between the liberal democracy paradigm, embedded in Captain America (protagonist), and the Nazi ideals embedded in the Red Skull (antagonist). This analysis seeks to understand how the construction of alterity is constituted as a strategy of American foreign policy during the Second World War. By intersection the film with primary sources and with a bibliography on the history of the United States, we identified that its use in the highschool context offers students critical tools to think about contents such as the United States entrance into Second World War, the international projection of principles of American liberalism and democracy, and the reaffirmation of certain principles of the American way.
