The present paper maps the debate in the Sergipe society on the reduction of the criminal majority in Brazil, contributing to the controversial discussions in relation to the Constitutional Amendment Proposals, specific to the PEC nº171 / 93. In order to achieve this objective, specific objectives were defined, such as: situating initiatives to reduce the age of criminal offenses under Brazilian legislation, and a methodology to which our research was exploratory with data of a bibliographic nature and with data from the sites The Federal Chamber and the Federal Senate and other sites. Bibliographies on topics that mainstreamed the discussion of reduction and also on socio-educational measures were analyzed, in addition to the norms that regulate the rights of children and adolescents. Through files and analysis of the material, we place initiatives to reduce the age of criminal offenses under Brazilian law as punitive measures in relation to infractions committed by adolescents and identify information regarding the procedure of the PEC nº171 / 93
