Resumo: The objective of this essay is to revisit Michel Foucault’s concept of biopolitics by making brief incursions of this concept with the notions of biopower, discipline, governmentality, and ascesis – also developed by Foucault. In the midst of these theoretical revisions, we bring to the text some questions that revolve around the body in modernity which is related to the field of Physical Education with the intention of anchoring the theory in empirical elements of the daily life of this field. The body is crossed by biopolitics insofar as it undergoes the action of the relations between politics and economy in order to better manage its behavior. Physical Education, as a field of know-how that deals with the knowledge of the most varied sciences to handle its object of study, “the body and the movement”, is immersed in this network of biopolitical devices.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

El cuerpo es atravesado por la biopolítica en la medida en que sufre la acción de las relaciones entre política y economía a fin de mejor gestar su comportamiento. La Educación Física como un campo de saber/hacer que se ocupa del conocimiento de las más variadas ciencias para hacer frente a su objeto de estudio, “el cuerpo y el movimiento”, está sumergida en esta red de dispositivos biopolíticos.O objetivo deste ensaio é revisitar o conceito de biopolítica de Michel Foucault fazendo breves incursões desse conceito com as noções de biopoder, disciplina, governamentalidade e ascese – também desenvolvidas por Foucault. Em meio a essas revisitações teóricas trazemos ao texto algumas questões que giram em torno do corpo na modernidade que tem relações com o campo da Educação Física com a intenção de ancorarmos a teoria em elementos empíricos do cotidiano deste campo.
