Resumo: Brazil is among the countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world, having a high availability of forest resources and great potential for the bioprospecting of new products based on plant biomass. In this context, the multifunctionality of Ceiba speciosa represents several opportunities for the development of new value-added products within this market. However, despite being used for the manufacture of furniture, handmade paper, pigment extraction, synthesis of chemical compounds, and so on, the number of patent deposits regarding the use of this species is extremely low. In view of this, this study aims to evaluate the technological scenario of Ceiba speciosa through the INPI, with the aim of promoting information that will support the development of new research related to the addressed subject. The research was carried out in May 2023, having as a criterion the selection of all patents that addressed the use of Ceiba speciosa. In total, four patent deposits were registered, all of Brazilian origin, framed in the areas of human needs, physics and process operation and transport.

Neste contexto, a multifuncionalidade da Ceiba speciosa representa oportunidades para o desenvolvimento de novos produtos de valor agregado para esse mercado. Entretanto, apesar de ser utilizada para fabricação de móveis, papel artesanal, extração de pigmentos, sínteses de compostos químicos, entre outras aplicabilidades, o número de depósitos de pedidos de patentes que envolve o uso desta espécie é extremamente baixo. Diante disto, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o cenário tecnológico da Ceiba speciosa por intermédio do INPI, com o intuito de promover informações que servirão de suporte para o desenvolvimento de novas pesquisas relacionadas à temática abordada. A pesquisa foi realizada em maio/2023, tendo como critério a seleção de todas as patentes que abordassem o uso da Ceiba speciosa.
