Fragilidade e qualidade de vida em pacientes submetidos à hemodialise

Introduction: Chronic Kidney Disease is characterized by progressive reduction of renal function. This population is predisposed to the fragility phenotype and compromised quality of life. Method: Cross-sectional study, with a descriptive type. The evaluations were made in the hemodialysis center. The handgrip dynamometer, 10-meter walk test, self-weight loss report, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the instrument of life quality Medical Outcomes Short Form Health Survey 36 were used for the evaluation of fragility, 64 patients witch chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis in a private service institution were included. The research was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Research with a number of 3,366,523 and all the participants signed the TCLE. Results: There were 41 patients classified as pre-fragile, 20 fragile e 1 non-fragile. On comparison between the fragile and pre-fragile groups, there was a reduction of quality of life in both groups and a significant difference between the domains of physical aspects, mental health and total value with the worst results on the fragile group. In correlation of two groups referring to the quality of life domain with aspects of fragility, there was a significant difference respectively, on total value on the items of handgrip and exhaustion. Besides, on the domains of mental health and physical aspects. Conclusions: CKD patients have fragility and consequent impairment in quality of life.
