Farmacêutico na saúde mental : uma revisão integrativa

A steady increase of the frequency on the diagnostics of people with mental disorders can be observed at the present times, being also responsible for a great proportion of the rates of incapacity and mortality. On this context, the pharmaceutical professional can perform activities to better the use of medication, establish strategies that can help on the compliance of the pharmacotherapy and together with a multidiscipline team can assist in the early detection of mental disorders, promoting an improvement in the quality of life of the patients. Material and Methods: An integrated review on the databases of Scielo, Scient Direct, Lilacs, Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science, without date restrictions, assessed by two reviewers. Titles, abstracts and articles in their entirety in English, Portuguese and Spanish were analyzed. Identification of the articles was performed utilizing the following keywords from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH): “pharmacists”, “pharmaceutical services”, “pharmaceutical care”, “mental health”. Results: On the step of study design classification, 57,7% were clinical trials, 19,2% non-interventional trials, 19,2% cross-sectional studies, 3,8% quasi-experimental studies. Discussion: The studies described the role of the pharmacist regarding compliance to the drugs, medication review, effectiveness of service and technical and pedagogical activites. Regarding the clinical trials, despite a greater parcel providing positive outcomes, they also reported methodological faults regarding the description of the randomization and blinding of the study participants. Conclusion: Given these results, it can be noted that these studies in their majority describe the importance of the pharmacist regarding the mental health, although more studies evaluating pharmaceutical services to patients with mental disturbances, their cost effectiveness ratio and their possible impact on health care systems.
