This research had for objective to analyze the performance of the Executive advisory services at Municipal Environmental Department (SEMA), in Aracaju city, state of Sergipe/BR, and thus, to identify the activities accomplished by the advisors, check the way they operates and to discover their academic formations. This was a descriptive case study with qualitative and quantitative approaches. For data collection was used a questionnaire with open and closed questions, with 12 professionals who act as: secretary, director, head of sector and advisor in that department. The used literature was based in authors such as: Sabino (2017), Nonato Júnior (2009), Medeiros and Hernandes (2006), among others. Some authors affirm that the formation in Executive Secretariat enables the professional, among other functions, to advise, with competence, any hierarchical levels of an organization, because this professional has techniques and knowledge, both acquired and developed in the academy. However, the results of the present study show that the act of advising is not restricted to professionals who are graduated and specialized in the secretarial area, and it can be performed by professionals from other areas who use empirical knowledge
