Educação ambiental como transformação social para alunos do ensino fundamental

Environmental Education (EA) is a theoretical and practical tool that has the function of provoking the critical reflection of the subjects about their reality and sensitizing them to the changes in habits, attitudes and practices that aim at building a sustainable society. The objective of this study is centered on to analyze, through a bibliographic study, what is missing for EE practices in elementary education to contribute to the formation of citizens and agents for social transformation. The study was based on a bibliographic review, available in the literature, whose guiding question was: “It is known that Environmental Education (EE) promotes students' awareness of sustainable values and practices and environmental conservation, but why is there still no development of effective practices in schools?" The search occurred through articles published between 2001 and 2019, in the databases: Scientific Electronic Library (SciELLO), RI / UFS (Institutional Repository of the Federal University of Sergipe) and Google Scholar. The categories found were: Concepts of EA aspects, EA Practices and Sustainable Development. In view of the results, it was possible to conclude that EE practices collaborate to build a sustainable society by promoting changes in attitudes, values and the understanding that we are agents of social transformation.
