Dor em pacientes com hanseníase na perspectiva da fisioterapia

INTRODUCTION: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease with great disabling potential and is considered a major public health problem in developing countries. It is believed that the main route of transmission of leprosy is through the inhalation of bacilli through the upper airways. The affected individual may present histological and clinical manifestations and sensation of pain, affecting quality of life and social participation. OBJECTIVES: To classify the intensity and determine the functional and social impact of people with leprosy. METHOD: Crosssectional, observational, analytical and in-depth study of 29 compared to sexes. Data presented through economic and socioeconomic characteristics, in addition to clinical characteristics. The Disability, Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Screening of Activity Limitation and Safety Awareness (SALSA) and Social Participation Scale (PAR) were also applied. RESULTS: When assessing the degree of physical disability, 90% of patients have some degree of disability. Regarding the results of the NRS scale, it was observed that 62% felt pain, with a median intensity of five, where the minimum and maximum values presented, respectively, were zero and ten. In the SALSA total score, 72% of the extremes had some degree of physical disability, with 31% of them having several measures of limitation, 28% were minor, 10% a limitation and 3% limitation. There were NRS with a variable SALSA (r = 0.555; p < 0.01) and also association with a PAR (r = 0.407; p < 0.05). The degree of disability and the type of leprosy were not found to be significant with the variables SALSA or with PAR (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: pain had an influence on activities and restriction of social participation. However, there was no influence of the degree of capacity or the type of leprosy with which it can be exercised.
