Motivating yourself in front of difficulties, working under collection pressure for results satisfactory to the company and controlling impulses for appropriatesituations,it is essential skills in the secretarial profession. It is necessary that the executive secretary has emotional intelligence, because, it will be a tool in accomplishing daily tasks, that creates good relationships in the work environment between boss, colleagues and customers. In addition to preserving your physical and emotional well being. This essay presents a study about the emotional intelligence and the development of the competencies of the executive secretarial professional. Through this research, it was intended to analyze the importance of emotional intelligence for the development of the skills in this professional. This research is a bibliographic review of the descriptive type and qualitative approach. It was concluded that emotional intelligence is a fundamental factor for the executive secretary to exercise his profession with efficiency and competence
