The The conditions of urban space directly influence people's lives. Over the decades, the public authorities prioritized investments aimed at improving infrastructure for individual and motorized vehicles and, on the other hand, disadvantaged spaces for pedestrians. It is currently understood that walking is the first modal within urban mobility and, therefore, it must be a priority that all cities have good walkability so that citizens can carry out their daily commutes in a safe and comfortable way. To assist in assessing the walkability that a site offers, there are several methodologies and tools. This TCC aimed to analyze the walkability on sidewalks in an area of the city of Lagarto/SE. After analyzing four methodologies, it was decided to use the Walkability Index (iCam) 2.0 from the Institute for Transport and Development Policies (ITDP). The methodology of this tool in question is composed of 15 indicators distributed in six categories and has a scoring system that allows interpreting the results obtained. Data collection to evaluate the indicators was carried out through a field survey in the sidewalk segment, with qualitative and quantitative evaluation, assigning a score (0) bad, (1) insufficient, (2) sufficient or (3) good, representing the pedestrian experience. The area analyzed was the surroundings of Praça do Tanque Grande, in the city of Lagarto/SE, and obtained as results insufficient values for the mobility categories (1.92) and environment (1.59), and bad values for the other four categories: sidewalk (0.94), attraction (0.95), road safety (0.88) and public safety (0.00). According to the stipulated criteria, the result of the index of the analyzed area reveals that the pedestrian experience in the region is insufficient, obtaining an overall score of 1.06, indicating the need for short-term intervention actions. In this way, it is concluded that this work used efficient methodological procedures capable of contemplating the evaluation of the walkability index and allows theunderstanding of the effect of the quality of the sidewalk in the urban modality, in addition to identifying the main deficiencies in the infrastructure developed for the pedestrian, serving, therefore, as an instrument to guide future projects or public and private policies that aim to improve walkability in the city of Lagarto/SE and other cities.
