Pele alva e pele alvo : uma análise sobre a cobertura do jornalismo esportivo audiovisual sobre casos de racismo no futebol

The Observatory of Racial Discrimination in Football, through their annual reports, has pointed to an increase in the number of reports of suspected cases of racism in football. This is also due to the fact that the cases are more perceptive due to increased press coverage of these incidents. In view of the strength of television in Brazil, and the relevance of the sports journalism segment in this media, the aim of this study is to understand how the audiovisual sports journalism guides the cases of racism in brazilian football in its content. The research methodology adopted was the case study and content analysis which resulted in a code book that guided the observation of twelve subjects between the years of 2016 and 2017. From the analysis it was concluded that the subjects treated each new case as if it were the first, as a new and sporadic problem, without making any connection with the other cases of racism in football, sport and Brazil. Regarding the construction of content, there was a tendency to not interview anyone when the focus of the story was racism. Moreover, it was noticed an indication of treatment of the subject as a mere controversy, since the overwhelming majority of subjects did not even mention that the practice of racism is a crime. This work may contribute to the understanding of how sports journalism has been covering racism in football and in this way foster reflections on the importance of sports journalism in addressing racial issues in depth in their narratives.
