This final university work from the course of Archeology is the result of a research about the Port Archeology. It is a case of study about the Harbor of Maruim City, located on Bandeira Square, São José District. The objective was to identify, register and analyze what this Harbor represented in the second half of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. In its tentative of promoting new studies and discussions about what it was and what this Harbor represents nowadays. In methodological terms the research was made through the methods of the Archeological Aquatic Environment. Of how the Harbor used to operate, analyzing and prospecting the structures and materials of the Harbor, the buildings that served as a merchandising warehouse, the houses that were part of the Harbor, the fountains of water that provided the residences and the vessels, as well as how was the movement at the Harbor. The result of this work was to understand why the Harbor lost its functionality, while in the whole region, the Harbor received a great cargo movement. There were a lot of reasons, and one of them was the closing of the sugar factory, that was lacking incentive for the producers. According to the construction of the BR 101, another reason was the construction of the railway.
