Resumo: This dissertation aimed to discuss the School Archives as a source of information and research. This space of institutional memory of the school, which houses in its boxes and cabinets important documents that record the administrative and educational daily life of the same and that also tells the school trajectory of students, tracing the student profile, the academic activity of the teachers there. taught, as well as through its collection allows the discovery of how the educational methodology was, this information is recorded in the books of minutes of occurrence books, class diaries, crafts, among other documents of the School Archive. Interest in School Archives as a source and research space is still recent, especially within Information Science. The predominant area of research in this informational environment is in the History of Education, with a great interest in the School Archive mainly as a memory space, educational educational heritage. The research characterized here has exploratory nature, applied character, using participant observation as a methodology, preceded by state of the art with research in bibliographic sources. Its general objective is the proposition of a product manager, the Manual of Permanent School Archive Document Management, applicable in the Sergipe State Education System, which also serves as a source and parameter for implementation in other states of the federation. And as specific objectives sought to diagnose the situation of the School Archive of the State School “General Valadão”, a centenary school of Aracaju, to establish a management model that improves the consultation, retrieval and dissemination of documentary information of its permanent documentation. The field observation found that there is no knowledge on the part of those responsible for the School Archives on the subject of archiving, the methods of archiving, conservation and preservation of this collection, as well as on the issue of document management. It was also identified the lack of identity of employees with the School File, they cannot understand the file beyond the space that houses old and outdated documents and their responsible for the activity also do not have an identity with the activity performed. As final considerations, we find that unfortunately the school archive still does not perform the social and cultural function within the school space, and the lack of preservation and organization of this type of file jeopardizes the memory of the school, the lack of a professional in the field. of documentation hinders the proper functioning and use of the school archive and the absence of a document management policy of this type of collection contributes to an accumulation of documentary mass without any criteria.

Este espaço de memória institucional da escola, que abriga em suas caixas e armários importantes documentos que registram o cotidiano administrativo e educacional da mesma e que também conta a trajetória escolar de alunos, traçando o perfil do estudante, a atividade acadêmica dos professores que por lá lecionaram, assim como por meio de seu acervo possibilita a descoberta de como foi a metodologia educacional, essas informações encontram-se registradas nos livros de atas livros de ocorrências, diários de classes, ofícios, dentre outros documentos do Arquivo Escolar. O interesse pelos Arquivos Escolares como fonte e espaço de pesquisa ainda é algo recente, principalmente dentro da Ciência da Informação. A área predominante das pesquisas nesse ambiente informacional é na História da Educação, com um grande interesse no Arquivo Escolar principalmente como um espaço de memória, patrimônio educativo escolar. A pesquisa aqui caracterizada tem natureza exploratória, caráter aplicado, utilizando como metodologia a observação participante, precedida de estado da arte com a pesquisa em fontes bibliográficas. Tem como objetivo geral a proposição de um produto gestor, o Manual de Gestão Documental de Arquivo Escolar Permanente, aplicável no Sistema Estadual de Educação de Sergipe, que também sirva de fonte e parâmetro para implantação em outros estados da federação. E como objetivos específicos buscou, diagnosticar a situação do Arquivo Escolar da Escola Estadual “General Valadão”, um estabelecimento de ensino centenário de Aracaju, para estabelecer um modelo de gestão que melhore a consulta, recuperação e disseminação da informação documental de sua documentação permanente. A observação de campo constatou que não há um conhecimento por parte dos responsáveis dos Arquivos Escolares sobre a temática de arquivo, dos métodos de arquivamento, conservação e preservação desse acervo, bem como ainda sobre a questão de gestão documental. Identificou-se também a ausência de identidade dos funcionários com o Arquivo Escolar, não conseguem entender o arquivo além de espaço abrigador de documentos ultrapassados e velhos e seus responsáveis pela atividade também não têm uma identidade com a atividade realizada.
