Resumo: The vaquejada manatee in the bush is a cultural manifestation of the environment of the northeastern sertões and, therefore, Sergipe. It is typical of the extensive cattle ranching environment, the "leather cycle" (19th century), before the process of occupation and settlement of the region with the breeding of livestock in the environment of the caatinga areas. It is secularly understood as a party, whose continuity up to the present day is carried out by sertanejos subjects as practice and representation - categories of analysis (by Roger Chartier) that serve as theoretical references. For this study we discuss the theme as an important expression of the cultures and regional identity of the men of the hinterland. In relation to other works, we differentiate our approach through the appropriation of the methodological theoretical resource of the biographical genre, allowing to highlight the trajectory of a subject of the rural environment. This is the character José Aloísio de Matos, an octogenarian cowboy from the Sergipe municipality of Aquidabã, known by the nickname Doctor de Vito, whose life history is marked as a man of the creative activity. And as a result of this work, he learned to search for loose cattle "in the bushes." Practice that became entertainment of handle and vaquejada of handle in the bush and by her, this cowboy reached the legendary and mysterious Ox Zeppelin, projecting itself of fame. And for this purpose, valuing the sense of the challenge with the community vaqueirama.

Practice that became entertainment of handle and vaquejada of handle in the bush and by her, this cowboy reached the legendary and mysterious Ox Zeppelin, projecting itself of fame. And for this purpose, valuing the sense of the challenge with the community vaqueirama.
