Resumo: Introduction: The motorcycle is the most popular means of individual transportation in Brazil. It represents 27% of the national vehicle fleet, but corresponds to 12.1 thousand deaths per year, which is equivalent to 32.44% of traffic deaths. Orthopedic injuries are very common in these types of trauma. Of the fractures secondary to motorcycle accidents, approximately one third are at the ankle and foot level. Objective: To characterize the victims of motorcycle accidents submitted to orthopedic foot and ankle surgeries at the Hospital de Urgências de Sergipe. Methods: Methods: This is a cross-sectional retrospective study using data collected at the Hospital de Urgências de Sergipe, state referral in trauma, from May to September 2018. Variables related to victims and accidents were analyzed. Results: A total of 295 motorcyclists were analyzed, of which 63 (21.35%) presented foot and / or ankle fracture. Of these, 60 (95.24%) were male and 3 (4.76%) female. The most prevalent age group was from 20 to 29 years old (39.68%). Regarding the position on the motorcycle, 56 (88.89%) were drivers and 7 (11.11%) were passengers. Most, 44 (69.84%), were not legally allowed to drive. Approximately 30 (60%) of the accidents occurred at a speed of 60 km / h or less. Regarding the use of safety items, 38 (60.32%) used the helmet, as it is a mandatory item. However, only 18 (28.57%) used closed shoes. Of the respondents, 45 (71.43%) had not had alcohol and 18 (28.57%) claimed the drink. Exposed fractures corresponded to 29 (46%), while closed fractures corresponded to 34 (55%) of the total. Conclusions: The most affected patients are young adults, male, drivers of the vehicle, without legal permission and an important portion under the influence of alcohol. It also demonstrates that the use of closed shoes should be further studied as a form of self-protection of motorcycle users, as well as the reduction of social and economic costs resulting from accidents

Destes, 60 (95,24%) eram do gênero masculino e 3 (4,76%) do gênero feminino. As fraturas expostas corresponderam a 29 (46%), enquanto as fechadas a 34 (55%) do total.
