Análise do custo de internação relacionado a doenças crônicas não transmissíveis e suas principais complicações no Estado de Sergipe

INTRODUCTION: Non-chomunicable diseases (NCD) are responsible for about 36 million death per year, mostly on middle and low income countries. Brazil follows the trend, in such a way that they were responsible for the biggest expenditures of the Brazillian Minitry of Health, followed by the expenditures on medication to treat those diseases. OBJECTIVES: Analyze which hospitalization due to non-chomunicable diseases increased the cost of the Health Care of the state of Sergipe, in a 10 years period. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This study is a retrospective cohort made with the analyzes if secondary data, available on the plataform “DATASUS” and its tool “Tabnet”. It evaluated the trends with linear regression and Pearson’s linear correlation (Pearson’s R. It took 5% for the p-value and employed the software “R Core Team 2022 (version 4.2.3). RESULTS: Cardiovascular diseases (CD), represented by chapter IX of ICD 10, were the 5TH cause of hospitalization (7,3% of totality), they were also the major death cause, with the second mortality rate, and they were responsible for most of the hospitalization cost. Considering the following variables “total of death”, mortality rate”; “total cost of hospitalization”; “average cost of hospitalization”; all of them reached it”s apex in the year 2021, with a significant drop on 2022. All of those variables had a Pearson’s R > 0,5 suggesting medium to strong positive correlation, and only the variable “total cost of hospitalization” had a p value > 5%. DISCUSSION: A trend in medical literature was found, with multiples studies pointing towards to increasing expenditures in Health-care with NCD, mainly when it’s specified if it is CD or diabetes mellitos and its complications. However, scientific literature is scarce on papers with quantitative analyzes of hospitalization. CONCLUSION: The Brazilian state of Sergipe, follows the trend of main healthcare expenditures and the trend of main hospitalization causes. The found data contribute to healthcare manangement in micro and macro healthcare regions; however, researches of stronger and more detailed methodology are still necessary.
