This article aims to analyze the establishment of the Estado Novo in the city of Aracaju, from the perspective of Correio de Aracaju. Since this period in the history of Brazil brought changes and impacts that perpetuate to the present day. It is justified by the need to understand the political positions of Sergipe representatives in relation to the dissolution of Congress on the eve of the presidential election. Methodologically, this research used as its primary source the editions of the newspaper in question, from the entire month of November. We conclude that the implementation of the new regime met the wishes of the Aracaju political elite, with regard to the speeches that involved the urgency of a new political system. In this way, it is possible to perceive the structuring of the political and social mentality on the federal interventor, exposing that the formation of the “prol Vargas” thought was successful, all in the name of order, progress and nationalism.
