Da magia a imaginação: o uso dos contos de fada pelo terapeuta ocupacional no seu cuidar em um serviço de oncologia

Cancer is an invasive disease and causes limitations in the lives of people and their families. Multiprofessional care is needed, where hospitalization is part of this process, generating an experience of routine rupture, temporary withdrawal from family and social life, invasive interventions, and pain. The general objective of this research was to understand the use of fairy tales as a therapeutic resource by the occupational therapist, with children and adults hospitalized for cancer treatment. Specific objectives: to identify during the meetings the meanings that the fairy tales produce, expressed through reports and / or expressive activity of painting; to compare the differences and similarities in the meanings brought by children and adults in relation to the fairy tales and to verify possible changes in the behavior of the same ones during the accomplishment of the activity. This research is an experience report, within a Hospital of Sergipe for cancer treatment, where three meetings were held, in which fairy tales and expressive activities were used. It is possible to perceive the contribution of the occupational therapist significantly using fairy tales, highlighting the sick subjects not only as passive patients but active, reactive beings who have hopes and dreams, as well as a life history that needs to be considered . The main difference between children and adults was that the children brought in the drawings and spoke the elements of the story that caught their attention, as the adolescents and adults correlated their lives with that moment.
