O gosto pela poesia : a sondagem como um instrumento

Based in two-year-long studies about how the Brazilian poetry is addressed in both schools and UFS classrooms, the present work scales the importance and value of using the survey test as an initial tool for increasing the interest for poetry. In order for us to be aware of the situation in which poetry teaching is found in our schools and in our course, the main reasons that lead to lyrical illiteracy in our country GENS, 2010; CEREJA, 2005; MARIS, 2012) and how to change this reality are discussed based in work proposals that are meant to instruct Portuguese and Literature teachers to emphasize, in their classes, the literature contents, more specifically of Brazilian lyricism, in dynamic and yet effective ways, both to elementary and college students. Moreover, this work’s main objective is introducing the results of a survey test applied in a 3rd semester class of the Letters course of the UFS campus Professor Alberto Carvalho, in order for us to have in mind and in numbers what difficulty level these students have towards the lyrical genre and poetry in Brazil. For the elaboration of this test we had, me and my supervisor Christina Ramalho, as main theoretical references, the works Forma e sentido do texto literário by Salvatore D’Onófrio, Teoria Literária, by Hênio Tavares and Uma História da Poesia Brasileira by Alexei Bueno. Finally, we see how the use of the survey allows the teacher to recognise the real difficulties the students face concerning both theoretical aspects related to the lyrical genre and the Brazilian lyrical tradition itself.
