Velocidade mastigatória em adultos: análise clínica fonoaudiológica

The objective of this work was the clinical analysis of adult chewing, to characterize the frequency of the cycles in an estimated time space in seconds. Thirty three healthy individuals participated in this study, no complaints of orofacial pain and aged between 19 and 39 years, of both sexes. This research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee and Human Beings, in which, in compliance with the regulatory standards of the Nacional Health Council, all participants were introduced to the study objectives through the free and informed consent form. Being a cross-sectional study, analytica and observational, in which data collection was perfomed at the Clinic School of Speech Therapy at the Universidade Federal de Sergipe / Campus Lagarto. For data analysis were obtained the statistical measures, absolute frequencies and percentages. The program used to enter the data and obtaining the statistical calculations was the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Scientes) in version 15. Through the presente research, it can be concluded that the participants have an alternating bilateral masticatory pattern, checking an average of 12,74 masticatory cycles performed at an interval of ten seconds.
