The Shroud of Turin is considered one of the greatest relics in the history of Christianity, thanks to the fascination produced by those who seek it for its most varied reasons, whether guided by reason, in the desire to explore the precious object, relating it to the most diverse areas of the world. human knowledge, or by the faith that moves millions of people towards it. Considering the importance of this object that indirectly involves the faith of a significant portion of western society, this article seeks to analyze the position of the Church in the face of the most controversial Christian relic, based on a bibliographical research that has as reference support the papal documents that directly address the research object of this article. The argument of the proposed theme will be done in a systematic way, observing each documentary characteristic of the leaders of the Roman church. In this sense, a historical line of documentary analysis will be traced, ranging from Pope Paul VI, through Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, to the current Pope Francis.
