A interiorização da formação presencial de professores de física : um estudo de caso no estado de Sergipe

The lack of teachers in basic education, especially in the exact sciences, is a persistent problem that has affected Brazilian education since the last century. At the beginning of the 21st century, the federal government implemented public policies to expand vacancies in undergraduate courses, seeking to deal with this reality. These measures resulted in the creation of new campuses in the interior of the country. In this context, the objective of this research was to quantitatively analyze the process of interiorization of the training of physics teachers, taking the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) as a case study. Methodologically, this research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The data used were extracted from the Statistical Yearbook of the Federal University of Sergipe and analyzed using descriptive statistics. In the results found, the increase in candidates in 2014 stands out, highlighting the importance of a free selection process for expanding access to higher education, the reduced number of vacant vacancies compared to other Universities in Brazil, the high percentage of non-concluding graduates and an increase in graduates, proportional to the increase in vacancies. The final considerations address the viability of the multicampi model, which in 2021 will see the presence of UFS in all regions of Sergipe. However, these achievements were not enough to overcome the intrinsic challenges of training physics teachers. On issues of gender and equity, the data reveal that the degree course in physics is one of the few that men are the majority, however they had greater difficulties to complete it.
