Resumo: The education practices related to sustainable development are necessary for the formation of citizens with an awareness of socio-environmental issues. This research deals with education for sustainable development as a useful process for the citizen training of students and educators. The research is a unique case study of qualitative approach and was carried out with an NGO that develops an Education for Sustainable Development project. The data were obtained through interviews, reports and informal conversations, and the results show how education practices focused on sustainable development contribute to the education of students and educators in terms of attitudes, as well as socio-environmental awareness and professional qualification; the data also demonstrate how this educational practice promotes the sustainable development of the local community.

A pesquisa é um estudo de caso único de abordagem qualitativa e foi realizada com uma ONG que desenvolve um projeto de Educação para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável.
