Práticas de educação ambiental em uma escola ribeirinha do município de Estância, Sergipe

Resumo: The present research intends to address the importance of environmental education in the formal space in the face of the environmental crises of the contemporary period. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the conceptions and practices of environmental education existing in the Maria Isabel Municipal School located in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the South Coast, in the municipality of Estância, Sergipe. The study is qualitative and quantitative. The bibliographic research presents the emergence of environmental education, its implications for conservation and the approach of the theme in the contextualisation between the formal environment and the surrounding environment, such as schools located in Conservation Units. Data were collected based on non-participant observation, and semi-open questionnaires were administered to managers and teachers, which began in September and were completed in December 2016. Analysis categories were developed for the investigation of practices Within the school, as well as the possible relationship between the school and the APA. In the analysis of data, three environmental conceptions were identified: naturalistic (42%), anthropocentric (8%), globalizing (42%), and two tendencies of environmental education, preservationist and critical. The result of the research reveals that the practices occur in a timely manner, mainly in commemorative dates and are rarely contextualized with the APA, since, 62% of the teachers stated that they do not know that the school is part of an Environmental Protection Area. In addition, most managers and teachers make science and geography disciplines responsible for the development of environmental education activities. In this context, the multidisciplinarity of this subject is verified and it is observed the need for the continuous training of both managers and teachers regarding environmental education

Para tanto, o objetivo do estudo é identificar as concepções e práticas de educação ambiental existentes na Escola Municipal Maria Isabel situada na Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) do Litoral Sul, no município de Estância, Sergipe. O estudo é de caráter quali-quantitativo. A pesquisa bibliográfica apresenta o surgimento da educação ambiental, as suas implicações para conservação e a abordagem do tema na contextualização entre o ambiente formal e o meio circundante, a exemplo de escolas situadas em Unidades de Conservação. A coleta de dados foi realizada com base na observação assistemática e não participante, além disso, foram aplicados questionários semi-abertos com os gestores e professores, iniciados em setembro e finalizados em dezembro de 2016. Foram elaboradas categorias de análise para a investigação de práticas dentro da escola, bem como a possível relação existente entre a escola e a APA. Na análise de dados, identificaram-se três concepções de meio ambiente: naturalista (42%), antropocêntrica (8%), globalizante (42%), e duas tendências de educação ambiental, preservacionista e crítica. O resultado da pesquisa revela que as práticas ocorrem de modo pontual, principalmente em datas comemorativas e são raramente contextualizadas com a APA, visto que, 62% dos professores afirmaram desconhecer que a escola está inserida em uma Área de Proteção Ambiental. Além disso, grande parte dos gestores e professores responsabilizam as disciplinas de ciências e geografia no desenvolvimento de atividades de educação ambiental.
