The paper aims to analyze the archaeological practices in architectural interventions in Brazil, having as focus the restoration of the Trapiches in Laranjeiras-SE. In Brazil, archaeological activities on the material culture of buildings still needs more effective systematic frameworks, in context of architectural restoration such needs are even more evident when we analyze the cases. The “Quarteirão dos Trapiches” is seen as an important example to be analyzed. Restored for the purpose of being a University Campus, the building has undergone archaeological interventions that have little dialogue with the proposed restoration or even with the enrichment of the historical instance of homogenized homesteads under a set of facades that witness the loss of part of its history. The research was instrumentalized through the analysis of the archaeological report, as well as the projects and academic productions that deal with the restoration results.
