A economia circular como alternativa à economia linear

The current linear model of production - extraction, transformation, consumption and disposal - does not take into account that natural and energy resources are finite. The circular economy, proposes the balance between the economic system, society and the environment, in which all materials are returned to the production cycle through reuse, reduction and recycling. This article aimed to conduct a study that deepens the discussions about the circular and linear economy, presenting the needs of changing the current paradigm of the linear economic model and showing the benefits brought by companies that have already adopted circular practices in their management in Brazil. An exploratory bibliographic review was conducted, based on scientific articles, research and works that address the circular and linear economy, considering the period from 2008 to 2018. The study showed that the growing scarcity of raw materials and the degradation of the environment, make the linear model limited while the circular economy provides social, economic and environmental gains. It was concluded that partnerships involving all social agents and the effective participation of the government, are essential to arouse the interest of society, institutions and companies and so that the transition is viable and effective.
