Resumo: The mangabeira is a plant belonging to the Apocynaceae family that can be found in almost all of the national territory, especially in the Northeast region. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the morphological characteristics of fruits and physiological quality of Hancorniaspeciosa Gomes seeds. The experiment was carried out at the Campus do Sertão of the Federal University of Sergipe, located in Nossa Senhora da Glória- SE, with fruits acquired in three municipalities: Aracaju-SE, Rio Real BA and Lagarto-SE. For the morphological characterization of fruits the evaluations of the longitudinal diameter and transverse diameter, the fruit fresh mass, the number of seeds per fruit, weight of seeds, weight of seeds per fruit were measured. The seeds were subjected to three drying periods (0, 24 and 48 hours) and to analyze the quality of the seeds, germination was evaluated seeds quality was determined based on germination (GER%), germination speed index (GSI), shoot length (SL), root length (RL), shoot freshmass (SFM), root freshmass (RFM), shoot drymass (SDM) and root drymass (RDM).The longitudinal fruit diameter (DLF) and transversal fruit diameter (DTF) showed statistically different results between the three batches evaluated, and the diameters of the fruits from the Rio Real lot were the ones that presented the high estmean, while the fruits from the Lagarto lot had the lowest average. When evaluating the germination percentage, it was observed that the Aracaju and Lagarto batches showing the highest germination rate when they were submitted to 0 hours of drying. The values found for SL showed statistical similarity for all treatments. When analyzing the SFM and SDM, it was observed that the lots of Lagarto and Rio Real were statistically equal and superior to the of Aracaju in the treatment in 0hoursofdrying. This demonstrates that mangaba seeds germinate more easily when placed to germinate as soon as they are removed from the fruit, but 24 hours after drying germination is also possible, in addition mangaba seeds have better physiological qualities when placed to germinate in a short period time after removing the seeds from the fruits.

Nesse sentido, o presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as características morfológicas dos frutos e a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de Hancornia speciosa Gomes. O experimento foi realizado no Campus do Sertão da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, localizado em Nossa Senhora da Glória-SE, com frutos adquiridos em três municípios: Aracaju- SE, Rio Real- BA e Lagarto- SE. Para a caracterização morfológica dos frutos, foram determinados o diâmetro longitudinal e diâmetro transversal, peso do fruto, do número de sementes por fruto, peso das sementes, peso das sementes por fruto. As sementes foram submetidas a três períodos de secagem (0, 24 e 48 horas) e para analisar a qualidade das sementes avaliou-se a germinação (GER%), o índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG), o comprimento da parte aérea (CPA), o comprimento da raiz (CPR), a massa fresca da parte aérea (MFPA), a massa fresca da raiz (MFR), a massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA) e a massa seca da raiz (MSR).O diâmetro longitudinal do fruto(DLF) e diâmetro transversal do fruto(DTF) apresentaram resultados estatisticamente diferentes entre os três lotes avaliados, sendo que os diâmetros dos frutos do lote Rio Real foram os que apresentaram uma maior média, enquanto os frutos do lote de Lagarto apresentaram a menor média. Ao avaliar a porcentagem de germinação observou-se que o lote de Aracaju e Lagarto apresentaram a maior taxa de germinação quando foram submetidas a 0 horas de secagem. Os valores encontrados de CPA apresentaram semelhança estatística para todos os tratamentos. Ao analisar as variáveis MFPA e a MSPA observou-se que os lotes de Lagarto e Rio Real foram iguais estatisticamente e superiores ao lote de Aracaju no tratamento em 0horas de secagem.
