This work had as objective to analyse the operating routines of the ceremonial of the Legislative Assembly of Sergipe and its relation with the duties of the Executive Secretary. The investigation was motivated by the interest in exploring the particularities of the area of public events and the importance of ceremonial and protocol, elements that make up its structure, as well as the scarcity of studies that approach this space as a possibility for the Secretariat. For this, a case study was developed, in which the physical structure and human resources were identified, as well as the types of recurrent events and the existence of normalization in the processes performed by the ceremonial team. It was also verified the legal attributions of the executive secretary, highlighting those related to the routines of the ceremonial. The data were obtained by questionnaire, composed of open and closed questions, applied to the ceremonial team that works at the investigated institution. The conclusions point that the topic becomes relevant to executive secretaries, because it meets their legal attributions, indicating that the area of events in the public domain is a possible niche for professional action.
