THE PRODUCTIVITY AND LEXICAL VARIATION OF LIBRAS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN BRAZIL

Resumo: The present research begins with a bibliographic review that highlights the use of videos in Libras, the technological tools and associated digital resources, which have intensified mainly in the academic environment, with the arrival of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Brazil. The discussion in question refers to the master’s thesis in which the linguistic variations present in the selected and categorized videos in Libras focused on the health area and recurring terms used during the pandemic were analyzed. As a result, it was relevant to register these new signs and neologisms, which reflect the current moment experienced in the country. The recording of the signs found in the videos and other signs to be discovered and improved, as research on the disease advances more and more, contributes substantially to studies in sign languages and their productivity, providing a new look and a better understanding of reality.

A discussão em pauta remete ao trabalho de mestrado em que foram analisadas as variações linguísticas presentes nos vídeos em Libras, selecionados e categorizados, e que se voltam para a área de saúde e termos recorrentes utilizados durante a pandemia. Como resultado, verificou-se a relevância do registro desses novos sinais e neologismos, que refletem o momento atual vivido no país.
