RESUMO: À flor da pele (1969), de Consuelo de Castro, emprega um intricado esquema de recursos metateatrais, por meio dos quais tanto se reflete em si mesma como uma criação teatral, quanto se refere, em intertextualidades, apropriações e ressignificações, a uma obra basilar da dinâmica metateatral, Hamlet (1599/1602), de William Shakespeare. O presente artigo propõe, pois, uma análise dos elementos auto e interreferenciais da peça brasileira, dedicando especial atenção ao desenvolvimento dramático da personagem Verônica, transformada, no transcorrer da ação, de mera criatura do microcosmo ficcional em criadora e aniquiladora da própria diegese que a engloba. William Shakespeare.   ABSTRACT: À flor da pele (1969), by Consuelo de Castro, presents an intricate scheme of metatheatrical devices. Through them, the play reflects itself as a theatrical creation, while also using intertextualities, appropriations, and re-signifying processes to refer to an essential work of the metatheatrical dynamics, William Shakespeare’s Hamlet (1599/1602). This paper analyzes the metatheatrical elements of the Brazilian play, focusing on the dramatic development of Verônica. At first a mere creature of the fictional microcosm, she is progressively transformed into the creator and destroyer of the diegesis which contains her. KEYWORDS: Brazilian Theatre.
