“PÁTRIA”, BY BERNARDO CARVALHO: VIOLENCE AND DISPLACEMENT IN THE WORLD-THEATER

The article analyzes the narrative “Pátria”, by Bernardo Carvalho (2019), thinking of the relations between mobility and enclosure in the contemporary world, to verify by which means the writer fictionalizes the political and ideological issues of our times in a text that requires from readers a double reading regarding form and content as a strategy for understanding the relationships between real, fictional and imaginary. In order to do so, we make use of the close reading of this hybrid narrative, having as some theoretical assumptions the reflections coming from Semiology, especially for questions of form; and from sociology, more specifically, those of Zygmunt Bauman about the liquid fears that surround our times. Textual analysis, however, is the privileged way of entering and reading the narrative and to discuss its specificities, since the relations between world and representation are inscribed in the text structured by Bernardo Carvalho, mainly when it deals with the issues of the borders and territories of literature and geopolitics in the contemporary.
