O MITO DE DIDO E ENÉAS EM VIRGÍLIO, OVÍDIO E MARLOWE: THE MYTH OF DIDO AND AENEAS IN VERGIL, OVID AND MARLOWE

RESUMO: Este trabalho visa analisar a maneira como o mito do amor trágico da rainha Dido e do herói Eneias é apresentado em três obras: a Eneida (gênero épico), de Virgílio; as Heroides (gênero lírico), de Ovídio; e Dido, Queen of Carthage (gênero dramático), do inglês Christopher Marlowe. O Canto IV da Eneida, em que o mito é narrado, possui elementos da tragédia e da lírica; o poema Dido Aeneae, sétimo das Heroides, contém elementos de retórica e tragédia; a tragédia Dido, Queen of Carthage traz algumas passagens consideradas cômicas. Narrando o mito, as obras transcendem à rijeza do gênero. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Mitologia clássica. Gêneros literários. Literatura comparada.   ABSTRACT: This paper aims at analyzing the manner how the tragic love myth of the Queen Dido and the hero Aeneas is presented in three works: Virgilius’ Eneid (epic genre), Ovid’s Heroides and Christopher Marlowe’s Dido, Queen of Carthage. Eneid’s Book IV, in which the myth is narrated, has elements from tragedy and lyric; the poem Dido Aeneae, seventh in the Heroides, contains elements from rhetoric and tragedy; the tragedy Dido, the Queen of Carthage brings some passages considered comic. Narrating the myth, these works transcend the hardness of genre. KEYWORDS: Classical mythology. Literary genres. Comparative literature.
