Resumo: The didactic herbarium of Murilo Braga State School (MBSS) was launched in Itabaiana County, Sergipe State, Brazil, to help overcoming difficulties associated with botany teaching and to better understand the Brazilian flora. The aims of the current study are to expand the collection of MBSS’sdidactic herbarium, to improve knowledge about plant species forming the local flora, to help students to better understand the dynamics of scientific herbaria and to arouse their interest in the botany field. In order to do so, botanical material was collected and dried, species were identified, and exsiccates were assembled and organized at the chemistry and biology laboratory of MBSS. The current research has contributed to the incorporation of 140 species, mostly of herbaceous species native to Brazil. The exsiccate production process carried out by students enabled them to better understand the local flora, favored botany teaching contextualization and helped them to learn botanical concepts.

Delante de las dificultades en la enseñanza de la botánica y de la necesidad de conocer la flora brasileña, fue creado el herbario didáctico del Colegio Estadual Murilo Braga (CEMB), situado en el municipio de Itabaiana/SE, Brasil. Este estudio tuvo como objetivos ampliar el acervo del herbário didáctico do CEMB, perfeccionar el conocimiento sobre las especies vegetales que componen la flora local, familiarizar a los estudiantes con la dinámica de un herbario científico y despertar el interés de los estudiantes por la botánica. Para eso, fueron realizadas colectas de material botánico, secado, identificación de las especies, montaje y organización de los ejemplares en el laboratorio de química y biología del CEMB. Esta investigación contribuyó con la incorporación de 140 especies, siendo que la mayoría son nativas de Brasil y de hábito herbáceo. La producción de ejemplares por los estudiantes proporcionó una mayor proximidad de la flora local, favoreció la contextualización de la enseñanza y auxilió al aprendizaje de conceptos botánicos. Diante das dificuldades no ensino de botânica e da necessidade de conhecer a flora brasileira, foi criado o herbário didático do Colégio Estadual Murilo Braga (CEMB), situado no município de Itabaiana/SE, Brasil. Este estudo teve como objetivos ampliar o acervo do herbário didático do CEMB, aprimorar o conhecimento sobre as espécies vegetais que compõem a flora local, familiarizar os estudantes com a dinâmica de um herbário científico e despertar o interesse dos discentes pela botânica. Para isso, foram realizadas coletas de material botânico, secagem, identificação das espécies, montagem e organização de exsicatas no laboratório de química e biologia do CEMB. Essa pesquisa contribuiu com a incorporação de 140 espécies, sendo que a maioria é nativa do Brasil e de hábito herbáceo. A produção de exsicatas pelos estudantes proporcionou uma maior proximidade da flora local, favoreceu a contextualização do ensino e auxiliou a aprendizagem de conceitos botânicos.
